FAQ

What is the difference between a burro, a donkey, and a mule?

A burro and a donkey are the same animal.  Our donkeys are micro-miniature donkeys, meaning that they are classified as the smallest donkeys out there.  Mules are a cross between a horse and a donkey and are often used in Idaho for big backcountry adventures.

When I hire a beer burro, tequila donkey, or a wedding burro, what can I expect?

You can expect that our donkeys will arrive 15 minutes before the designated arrival time.  They will be fresh and clean, being bathed and well-groomed prior to their arrival.  They will be wearing their pack saddle and the flower crown and/or collar of your choice, as well as be carrying small coolers filled with ice and carrots for treats.  We will work with your caterer to fill the coolers with the beverage or cocktail of your choice and we ready to pass them out to your guests!  Our donkeys will be joined by one or two handlers, to guide the donkeys, answer questions and to serve drinks to your guests.

Do the donkeys carry anything but beer in their packs?

You bet! Our donkeys can carry party favors, snacks, marketing materials, flowers, you name it!

How do you distribute beverages? Do you sell beer?

We do not sell beer or alcohol, we only serve it.  The venue or client will provide the drinks.  Our donkeys are outfitted with a top-quality pack saddle that carries two 24 quart coolers on either side.

Are flowers included? How do I arrange for them?
Our rental fee includes the use of our standard green and white faux flower crown, but we are happy to work with your florist of choice to help create the custom flower arrangement of your choosing. The cost of flower crowns and flower collars will be handled directly between you and your florist. We are happy to provide references for great local florists that have created some gorgeous crowns and collars for our donkeys.
Are you insured?

Yes

How much does this cost?

The fee per donkey is $500/hour and includes a high quality leather pack saddle and brown baskets lined for ice, beverages and carrot treats.  Travel outside of 30 miles from our ranch will incur a mileage fee.  We are happy to work with your vendors to create a customized experience that you and your guests will love!

How much weight can the donkeys carry?

Donkey’s are incredible strong creatures and can carry up to half of their body weight for short periods of time!  However, we have them carry much less than that.  Our donkeys weigh about 350 pounds and we only have them carry up to 50 pounds, making it nearly negligible and quite comfortable for them.

Is flash photography an issue for the beer donkeys?
No! After each photo is taken we make sure to reward the donkey with a carrot for their patience and good behavior. The donkeys look forward to photos because they know a treat is headed their way after the shot is taken.
